Perk Live @ Saint Rocke!

October 23, 2009

Perk at Sainte Rocke 2
Perk performed a live acoustic set last night at Saint Rocke in Hermosa Beach. Perk played a couple of his originals, and a handful of covers that caught the crowd off guard…songs like “Ice Cream Man”, “867-5309″, and “The Joker” had the crowd laughing, smiling and singing along.

Perk is preparing for his 3rd GTMO tour in Cuba, and leaves next week for a week to rock the troops stationed on the base. Joining Perk will be the members of Bridge Of Sighs. Pictures and video from the tour will be up soon!

Perk recently performed live for a Vietnam Memorial in Westlake Village, California. On stage in front of a replica of the Vietnam Memorial Wall from Washington, D.C., Perk sang patriotic rock songs with two bands.

The event was a solemn reminder of the many soldiers who were killed during the Vietnam War. Asked about his feelings of the day, Perk replied, “It’s great to be here and perform great, classic rock songs that I’m sure the soldiers loved!” Perk and the bands rocked songs from Led Zeppelin, The Beatles, and many more classic rock artists.

Perk will continue his patriotic tour of the military with a 3rd Tour of the U.S. Military Base in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba this November.

Perk Interviews Christopher Jeffries 3I was just down in Laguna Beach, where I got a chance to hang out with an amazing Glass Artist named, Christopher Jeffries. Christopher invited me to watch his process for creating glass works… it was a fantastic experience!

Christopher went right to it, and took out liquid glass from an oven that was over two thousand degrees…muy caliente! He then dropped colored glass on top, and things started to get really interesting!

Christopher and his assistant, Julian, went to work crafting this scorching hot glass, and it was awesome to watch! When you’re right beside these guys blowing the glass, stretching it, constantly heating it…you really get an appreciation for ALL glass.

Christopher’s website is JeffriesGlass.com, and he’s also featured at the Sawdust Arts Festival going on now until August. You’ll definitely want to get one of his glass peices…they’re awesome!

I just finished hangin’ with my bro Drew Brophy, a worldwide surf artist who was working on painting 15 vans for a company called Escape Van Rentals. Drew asked me to come hang as he tackled the first van, and it didn’t take long before everyone starting saying, “yeah!!!”  1st van 2

Drew is a phenomenal artist, and watching him work is at once impressive and inspiring…not to mention, he’s one hard worker…12 straight hours with only a 20min lunch break in the toasty SoCal Sunshine!!!

I’m working with Drew on a pilot called, “Paint This” and it’s a ton of fun! The show would have us travelling around the world to the coolest beaches while Drew paints everything from a helicopter, boat, airplane, and more!

Great news! My new film ‘The Compass’ has just been released!

The Compass Movie Poster Starring Perk

The World Premiere took place at The Grove of Anaheim, and ‘The Compass’ took an audience of nearly 1000 on an unforgettable adventure into a fascinating expose’ of the human mind, body, & spirit.

This film has a deep, underlying theme of genuinely wanting to help people move “from where you are…to where you want to be.”

This film has certainly moved my compass, and I’m forever grateful to Producer John Spencer Ellis, and Co-Producers/Directors Marlowe Greenlee and Josh Stone.

Visit TheCompass.tv to watch the trailer, and order a DVD, a copy of the book, and even the powerful soundtrack from composer Paul Hoffman!
